Coming to Netflix November 2015

Welcome to the second month of this blog as we examine November on Netflix.  This is the one everyone more or less looks forward to because this is the stuff that's being added on to Netflix.  Although it's a bit earlier than expected (I'm still waiting on some news from Roku's app), it's certainly enough to roll up our sleeves and get started.

While not a month jam packed with A-list titles, there's certainly pleasures to be had.  Oscar nominated documentary Last Days in Vietnam lands on Netflix November 1.  That same day, we also get the first Spongebob Squarepants Movie (and supposedly find out who lives in a pineapple under the sea) and Robot Overlords, a young adult title about teens rising up against their alien robot oppressors.  November 2 brings us the latest season of the senior romance drama Last Tango in Halifax and the third gives us the interesting documentary Do I Sound Gay? which features George Takai and Margaret Cho discussing research into vocal inflections that occur among LGBT people.

On November 12, Keira Knightley (remember her?) takes on the titular role of Anna Karenina in this Tom Stoppard movie about an aristocrat's forbidden romance with a well heeled Count.  On the 14th, real life is the focus of the indie film Blue Caprice as we focus on the twisted father-son relationship between the two snipers that struck the Beltway with a series of attacks in 2002.  From one car drama to a car comedy, Dude, Where's My Car? (November 16) features two less than bright people trying to make sense of a wild night of partying and where their vehicle is.  Finally, A Perfect Man on November 28 examines the choice a woman has to make when she pretends to be another woman to catch her husband being unfaithful.

In more speculation than fact for right now, The Runner on November 5 concerns a flawed politician who has to examine his life following a scandal that ends his career.  Did I mention that the politician was played by Nicolas Cage.  Alright, then!  November 13 brings us the documentary Call Me Lucky examines the evolution that Barry Crimmins went from caustic comic to determined peace activist.  On the 15th, Soaked in Bleach is a documentary that examines the efforts a private detective makes to find out what happened after Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain left rehab days before he died.  The first, and only, season of the much hyped Cristela debuts on November 16.

November 25 brings the biggest title home in time for Thanksgiving.  Called Home, it's about a space alien who befriends a little girl who is searching for her missing parents.  I hope it's better than the previews made it look (Parson's character sounded a bit obnoxious).    Subscribers can make like Richard Roeper and compare The Runner to November 26's Zipper which features Patrick Wilson as a promising federal prosecutor with a weakness for high class call girls.  November 28 brings a pair of promising films with somewhat confusing titles into the mix.  Best of Enemies is a documentary examining the series of debates between William F. Buckley and Gore Vidal which took place during convention coverage in 1968.  The Best Offer, on the other hand, is a drama that focuses on the changing relationship between an isolated auction house owner and a female client who refuses to meet in person.  Finally, the 29th debuts Electric Boogaloo, a documentary examining the rise and fall of the low budget Cannon Films studio as well as the pictures it provided people in the 1980s.

Finally, there's the Netflix originals.  The Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation) comedy Master of None as well as the animated Care Bears and Cousins both appear on the 6th of the month.  November 13 brings us With Bob and David, a sketch comedy series featuring two members of the cult comedy series Mr. Show.  On that same date, John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid debuts as the comedian attempts to overcome the stigma of his failed Fox sitcom.  And on the 20th, the second Marvel series Jessica Jones attempts to answer the question whether Netflix has found a successful formula or was Daredevil a fluke?

As always, a question mark means I couldn't confirm the title (hopefully, many of these will be removed shortly).

11/3 Update:  6 New Titles found including A Pigeon Sat on a Branch (November 5) and The Wolfpack (November 12).

11/10 Update:  Appears as though I will be starting Coming to Netflix December 2015 early.  As in today.
