The End
While I generally don’t like the removal of Netflix Originals (or exclusives), my disappointment over the impending disappearance of The Killing is offset in large part by the bait-and-switch by AMC in which we assumed that “Who Killed Rosie Larsen” would be answered by the end of the season only to discover that we had to watch Season 2 to learn the answer. Not surpringly, a large number of viewers tuned out to Season 2, and The Killing was headed to the scrap heap until Netflix ponied up a substantial part of the show’s budget to keep the series on AMC for another year. True to form, Season 3 also ended with unresolved issues, and Netflix agreed to finance and present Season 4 exclusively to the two dozen hardcore fans still interested in watching. Both seasons 3 and 4 were inferior to the first two seasons, and most of us never forgave AMC for screwing us at the end of Season 1. I think I will miss The Killing even less than Derek, and I couldn’t get through episode 1 of that show.
