Coming to Netflix Streaming January 2018

A list of film and TV titles that are heading for Netflix Instant Streaming during the month of January 2018.  It appears that we do have some goodies on the way!:

Apollo 13 (1995):  A space mission involving Jim Lovell and his crew turns into a battle for survival in space after disaster develops; with Tom Hanks and Ed Harris.

Badha (2006):  Young woman suspected of practicing witchcraft is shunned by society and ostracized by her family; with Amruta Subhash.

Empire of Scents (2014):  The sense of smell in determining survival skills and and sensual experiences is the topic of this documentary.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005):  Agnostic defense attorney starts to believe the story of a priest accused of negligent homicide after an exorcism goes wrong; with Laura Linney.

The First Time (2012):  Although Dave is smitten with the hottest girl in school, he starts to romance this other girl after a chance encounter; with Dylan O’Brien and Britt Robertson.

Functional Fitness (2016):  Documentary explores the challenges and rewards of CrossFit through the eyes of those whose lives have been transformed by it.

Furry Vengeance (2010):  A real estate developer’s plans to expand into an untouched part of the wilderness hits a nasty snag; with Brendan Fraser.

The Godfather (1972):  Although reluctant, the youngest son of an organized crime boss starts to embrace the family way after an attempt is made on his father’s life; with Al Pacino and Marlon Brando.

The Italian Job (2003):  A clever thief and his compatriots plan revenge against the person who betrayed them for the goods from a daring heist in Venice; with Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron.

John Mulaney: New in Town (2012):  The stand-up comic discusses quicksand, Motown singers, and an elderly man he befriended in a bathroom in a special that should just be a Netflix exclusive at this point.

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (2011):  Documentary chronicles the journey of the Candian singer from YouTube sensation to headliner in a 2010 tour before his head got too big.

Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996):  Love is oceans away as a wealthy woman’s marriage to royalty leads to a cruel twist of fate; with Indira Varma.

Kay Dyache Bola (2005):  Two student’s hopes of clearing their names of murder lies in a defense attorney who’s never practiced.  So India has remade My Cousin Vinny; with Makarand Anaspure.

King Kong (2005):  A group of adventurers and filmmakers travel to Skull Island in search of a gorilla and mostly regret it; with Naomi Watts and Adrien Brody.

Lethal Weapon (1987):  A straitlaced cop teams up with a young officer who’s become unhinged due to some personal turmoil; with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989):  Murtagh and Riggs team up again to take on a smuggling operation led by a diplomat who is just abusing his immunity privilege; with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

Lethal Weapon 3 (1992):  Riggs and Murtagh again team up to take on a former cop turned arms dealer; with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

Lethal Weapon 4 (1998):  Riggs and Murtagh take on a Chinese mobster who’s hoping to expand his operations in LA.  Hopefully the last one until the inevitable reboot; with Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, and Jet Li.

License to Wed (2007):  Ben and Sadie’s love story may stall out in a priest’s pre-wedding course; with Mandy Moore and Robin Williams.

Like Water for Chocolate (1992):  When love fails her, a woman takes her passions out on her cooking, which leads to surprising results; with Lumi Cavazos.

Love Actually (2003):  Love is in the air in London as ten stories with some surprising connections conclude on Christmas Eve.  May just have to take a chance this time; with Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson.

The Lovely Bones (2009):  A murdered young girl tries to help her family cope with her death while trying to stop her killer from striking again; with Saoirse Ronan and Mark Wahlberg.

Maacher Jhol (2017):  A Paris based chef returns home to India after 13 years and faces a life-changing cooking challenge; with Ritwick Chakraborty.

Mad Money (2008):  The newest janitor of the Federal Reserve Bank joins up with two colleagues in a scheme to recover money scheduled for destruction; with Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah.

Maddman: The Steve Madden Story (2017):  The rise, fall, and comeback of the footwear designer is showcased in this documentary.

Marie Antoinette (2006):  The rise of a young queen who has a luxurious confining lifestyle which might not be good for the peasants; with Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman.

Maza Pati Karodpati (1988):  In order to win the heart of a prominent businessman’s son, an orphan girl decides to change her identity; with Sachin.

The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009):  Journalist looking for a story meets a man of mysterious origins who claims to be a warrior monk; with George Clooney and Ewan McGregor.

Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy (2009):  After a man blames his heritage for his lack of success, he’s visited by a great medieval king proving that there’s no excuse; with Sachin Khedekar.

Monsters vs. Aliens (2009):  After being captured by scientists, a fifty foot tall woman might be the key to protect earth from an alien invasion; with voices of Reese Witherspoon and Seth Rogen.

More Than a Game (2008):  Documentary captures the bond between four African Americans as they bring their mostly white prep school into the playoffs; with LeBron James.

Murder on the Cape (2017):  A love affair between a fashion writer and a married Cape Cod fisherman leads to an unexpected turn of events; with Jade Harlow.

The Untold Tales of Armistead Maupin (2017):  Documentary focuses on Maupin overcame a conservative past to champion LGBTQ rights and write Tales of the City.  GONE as of January 16!

Alien Contact: Outer Space (2017):  Fact based documentary explores the efforts of humans to contact possible intelligent beings from beyond the solar system.

The House Next Door (2017):  Hindi version of Aval has a young couple's relationship shaken by mysterious troubled family moving into the neighborhood; with Siddharth.  REMOVED 1/10

47 Meters Down (aka In the Deep) (2017):  Two sisters are trapped in the shark cage with little oxygen in their tanks and great whites swimming nearby; with Mandy Moore and Claire Holt.

Alejandro Riano: Especial de Stand Up (2018):  This special has Riano discussing the perks of dating a she wolf, dancing styles, and soccer game announcers.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017):  Two fourth graders hypnotize a humorless principal into thinking he's a superhero wearing underwear.  Caught bits and pieces of this and twas cute; with voices of Ed Helms and Kevin Hart.
