Another month, another plethora of titles going away. This time, we're losing some classic CBS series and PBS kids shows/documentaries on the first. I'm hoping for a partial victory of perhaps keeping the Ken Burns's documentaries (not mentioned on Netflix's report) which may be possible. But it may depend on how tied in Netflix is with the exclusive mantra.
Outside the shows, July 1 shows an alarming winnowing of classic films. Say goodbye to 2001, Boogie Nights, Bulworth, Butch Cassidy, A Clockwork Orange, Liberty Valance, The Right Stuff, Al Pacino's Scarface and Witness among other titles as the narrowing of the film lists for movies made prior to 2000 continues to dwindle. For those seeking something lighter, a fond adieu to Along Came Polly, both Flintstones films, Mouse Hunt, Team America, Talladega Nights, and pretty much all the Star Trek films. It's enough to make you shout Khan at Netflix.

I was lucky enough to see A Five Star Life and the travel portion of the film makes it a painless watch, although those seeking more in the main character's plight of emptiness might walk away disappointed. It disappears July 3. Unlike last year's shocking expulsion of hundreds of foreign titles, it appears that the Fourth this year is going to be quiet enough to maybe catch up on some upcoming expiries or finish up a binge watching session. The main titles expected to go so far include one of the late Paul Walker's final films which is Brick Mansions (July 7), a remake of District 13 and the feature film of the cult series Firefly called Serenity (July 16). The latter is definitely worth checking out even if you hadn't seen the series; enjoyed both Nathan Fillion and Chiwetel Ejiofor in that one.
For those looking at other blogs, keep in mind that the date listed is the date that a film/series expires from Netflix. Subtract by a day to find out when the last day to watch it is going to be.
