Coming to Netflix April 2016

This is a preliminary list of films and TV shows coming to Netflix on April 2016.

April 1:

2 Fast 2 Furious:  Back.  A former cop teams up with an ex-con pal to transport a shipment of dirty money for a shady importer/exporter.  But not all is as it seems; with Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson.

3 Women:  Two co-workers find their friendship changing in eerie ways when they become roommates; with Shelley Duvall and Sissy Spacek.

The 3Tails Movie: A Mermaid Adventure:  Three mermaids swim into action to protect the oceans and their secret life from a menacing force intent on stealing their DNA.

16 Blocks:  Aging cop escorts a prosecution witness through 16 blocks for him to testify, but they learn quickly it's not going to be easy; with Bruce Willis and Mos Def.

18 Cigarrillos y medio:  An aimless and spoiled 21 year old man wants nothing else but one final kiss from his ex-girlfriend who has a new boyfriend.

The 300 Spartans:  Tiny cadre of Greek soldiers from Sparta defend a mountain pass from a much larger invading Persian Army.  Perhaps a predecessor to 300?

2001: A Space Odyssey:  A trio of tales from Stanley Kubrick's classic science fiction film deal with monoliths, a protective computer system, and a voyage to Jupiter.

Absolution:  A woman fleeing a nasty crime boss turns to a repentant hit man for protection who must decide between duty and redemption; with Stephen Seagal and Vinnie Jones.

Addicted to Sexting:  This lighthearted documentary examines the phenomenon of erotic text messaging from the points of view of pundits and participants.

Age of Champions:  Documentary examines participants in the National Senior Games and how their competitive nature hasn't faded with time.

The Agony and the Ecstasy:  A declaration to paint the Sistine Chapel pits a pope against perfectionist artist Michelangelo; with Charlton Heston and Rex Harrison.

Ali G Indahouse:  A wannabe gangster rapper stands up to the forces planning on demolishing a leisure center and he ends elected to Parliament; with Sacha Baron Cohen and Michael Gambon.

All Stars:  Veteran girl's softball coach has his hands full as his latest assignment has him dealing with a team of green 10 year olds and their demanding parents; with Kyle Howard and Angela Kinsey.

All Work All Play:  Documentary explores several League of Legends teams as they attempt to win the Extreme Masters championship.

Along Came Polly:  Back.  An insurance adjuster who gets dumped on his honeymoon finds solace and a possible love connection with a free spirited former classmate; with Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston.

An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success:    Back.  A girl with a talent for baking named Grace learns that she'll be helping her uncle and cousin in a Parisian pastry shop while on vacation.  You go, girl!

An American Girl: Saige Paints the Sky:  Saige turns to her grandma for advice following the possible end of friendship with her best friend as well as her beloved art classes.

Another World:  Two filmmakers focus on six activists who were there when the Occupy Wall Street protests occurred in September 2011.

Autism in Love:  Documentary focuses on the challenges of autistic people to find and manage deep romantic bonds with significant others as well as the rewards for doing so.

Batteries Not Included:  Tiny robotic aliens may be all that's between an older couple and unscrupulous landlords; with Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy.

Best in Show:  The participants at a tony dog show are skewered in this mockumentary; directed by Christopher Guest and with Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara.

Best Laid Plans (1999):  A rich successful man invites a beautiful woman from a bar over to his place, not knowing that she's not who she seems to be; with Reese Witherspoon and Alessandro Nivola.

The Best Man: The best man at a wedding has some serious explaining to do when an advance copy of his kiss and tell memoirs hits the party rounds; with Taye Diggs and Nia Long.

The Birth of Sake:  Documentary explores the art and skill of sake making, while offering a glimpse into the life of its artisans of a brewery.

Boogie Nights:  A busboy takes his um, talents, with him to a tight knit group of 1970s porn actors and becomes a skin flick celebrity; with Mark Wahlberg and Burt Reynolds.

Bowfinger:  Desperate, bumbling producer and his film crew trick a top Hollywood star into being a part of their next movie; with Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy.

The Boys from Brazil:  A Nazi hunter stumbles onto Dr. Josef Mengele who plots to revive Hitler's vision in South America; with Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier.

Breathe:  A teen finds an escape from an unhappy home life when she meets a charismatic new student, but things between them take a turn for the worst.

Cephalopod:  A grief stricken painter copes with his girlfriend's sudden death by following her trail to the Mexican seaside.

Chaplin:  Dramatic biopic of comic legend Charlie Chaplin's life including triumphs, failures, infamy, and government persecution; with Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Hopkins.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:  Charlie becomes one of five kids who gets a grand tour of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory in Tim Burton's remake; with Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore.

Christmas, Again:  Dejected twentysomething from upstate New York spends the holidays peddling Christmas trees in New York City, apparently eschewing the Yuletide spirit.

Chuck Norris vs. Communism:  Documentary explores how an influx of bootlegged films changed Romania after its dictator banned Western media.

Class of '61:  That's the class of 1861 as West Point grads grapple with the looming Civil War and what to do with a runaway slave; with Andre Braugher and Dan Futterman.

Cleopatra:  The jewel of the Nile sets her sights on the Roman emperor Caesar in this blockbuster that showcases love, greed, betrayal, and possibly a snake; with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

A Clockwork Orange:  In order to satiate his appetites, a young man spends his time stealing, raping, and beating innocent people in orgies of violence; with Malcolm McDowell.

Close Range (2015):  Ex soldier attempts to save his niece while dealing with a crooked sheriff and a vengeance minded drug cartel; with Scott Adkins.

Cochochi:  Two brothers set off into the wild to deliver a package, but their trip takes a turn when they get lost and lose their horse.

Code Black:  Documentary examines the world of a public hospital in LA to showcase what's wrong with the medical system.

Codegirl:  This documentary uncovers a global technology competition that tries to spur young women into joining the field.

Condemned (2015):  A runaway rich girl flees into the arms of her boyfriend who's squatting in a danger zone overcome by a zombie virus.

A Cool, Dry Place:  A lawyer tries to rebuild his life after being dumped by his wife, but things take a turn when she wants custody of their 4 year old son; with Vince Vaughn and Monica Potter.

Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs:  Citizens of an old West frontier town must protect themselves against dinosaurs released from an accidental mine explosion; with Vernon Wells.

Crafting a Nation:  Documentary explores the art and implications of beer craftsmen who explore their passion, boost economies, and create tasty brews.

Cujo:  A dog turns into a Satanic killer, leaving a mother and son stranded in a station wagon on a hot summer day; with Dee Wallace Stone and Danny Pintauro.

Cut Snake:  An ex-con settles down after falling in love, but that bond is tested when his former cellmate shows up to lure him back into the crime world; with Sullivan Stapleton and Alex Russell.

A Dangerous Woman:  A sheltered, slow witted woman lives with her widowed aunt while working at a dry cleaners in this melodrama; with Debra Winger and Barbara Hershey.

Deep Impact:  The US president selects a steely veteran astronaut to lead a crew into space to destroy a massive comet heading for Earth; with Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris.

Dennis Rodman's Big Bang in Pyongyang:  Documentary chronicles Rodman's controversial and humorous efforts to stage a basketball game for peace in North Korea.

Dolphin Tale:  A young dolphin who loses its tail to a trap gets a new lease on life thanks to the humans who saved its life; with Harry Connick Jr. and Ashley Judd.

Don't Bother to Knock:  A man recovering from a break up meets a gorgeous girl with a dark past and who's dealing with some mental issues; with Richard Widmark and Marilyn Monroe.

A Drummer's Dream:  At an Ontario music camp, extremely accomplished drummers mentor students in rock, jazz, soul, and fusion drumming in this documentary.

ET: The Extra Terrestrial:  Blockbuster and multiple Oscar nominee tells the story of a friendship between a 10 year old boy and an alien; with Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore.

El Informe Toledo:  A series of 15 prints sparks this documentary of the life of artist and social activist Francisco Toledo.

Elizabeth:  Fledgling Queen Elizabeth must choose between personal happiness and her own safety in this Oscar winning look at the personal toll of absolute power; with Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush.

Erin Brockovich:  Twice divorced mother takes a job as a lawyer's secretary and uncovers some wrongdoing involving a power company; with Julia Roberts and Albert Finney.

Everything Before Us:  Two couples try to navigate life and love in a world where a sprawling agency is monitoring and scoring romantic relationships; with Randall Park.

Explorers:  A teen science whiz and his best friend create an interplanetary spacecraft in a homemade lab so they can explore space travel; with Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix.

The Flintstones:  Fred and Barney struggle to balance work and family in this big screen adaption of the cartoon series; with John Goodman and Rick Moranis.

The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas:  In this prequel to the Flintstones movie/series, meet young Fred, Wilma, Betty, and Barney as they take a pre-marital trip to Vegas; with Mark Addy and Kristen Johnston.

Flutter:  A young woman struggles to take care of her child and his pet despite her husband leaving her and poverty, illness, and legal troubles hanging over her head; with Jesse Plemons.

Foodies: The Culinary Jet Set:  Documentary examines a subculture of the foodie bloggers which involves elite diners who travel the world in search of tasty cuisine.

Frank and Cindy (2007):  Documentary on a washed up rock star and his wife focuses on the dashed dreams and alcoholism that threaten to leave the pair in disharmony.

Frank and Cindy (2015):  Inspired by the 2007 documentary.  A student filmmaker turns the camera on his bitter mom and his washed up rock star stepdad in this dramedy; with Oliver Platt and Rene Russo.

French Connection 2:  Popeye Doyle is still looking for elusive drug lord Alain Charnier and he's sent to France to track him down; with Gene Hackman and Fernando Rey.

The Genius of Marian:  Emotional documentary focuses on a woman suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's and her efforts to retain her sense of self.

Gold:  After a 10 year absence, a man returns home to reconnect with his ex-wife and daughter, but finds them living with a domineering PE teacher; with Steven Mackintosh and James Nesbitt.

A Good Man:  A Special Ops agent lays low as a handyman following a disastrous end to his career until one of his tenants is threatened by gangsters; with Steven Seagal.

The Hand That Feeds:  Documentary examines what happens in a New York restaurant when a quiet kitchen hand tries to unionize his fellow mistreated undocumented workers.

The Fosters Season 3:  Continuing adventures of an interracial lesbian couple and their biological, adopted, and foster offspring; with Teri Polo and Jake T. Austin.

April 28:

Africa:  Five part nature series focuses on stirring stories of survival among the diverse animal life of the African continent; with David Attenborough.

Yindi, the Last Koala:  A baby koala which is nursed by humans following an accident involving his mother with hopes of releasing both back into the wild once both are fully recovered.

April 29:

Danger Mouse Season 1 (2016);  The world's greatest super-spy who happens to be a mouse saves the world with the help of fancy gadgets and his panicky hamster sidekick Penfold; with voice of Stephen Fry.

April 30:

Fried:  A gang of underdogs face daily humiliations working at a fast food restaurant dealing with customers as well as each other.

The Jamz:  Two late night Chicago radio DJs at a top rated radio station want a job of hosting a morning show, but there's a lot standing in their way; with Kathy Najimy.
