Coming to Netflix Streaming August 2016

APEX: The Story of the Hypercar:  A visionary carmaker introduces a fuel efficient, high performance hypercar to a market filled with such competitors as Porsche and Ferrari; narrated by Zachary Levi.

Beethoven's Christmas Adventure:  The lovable Saint Bernard tries to save the holiday spirit when he helps a wayward elf try to recover a bag of Santa's toys from a band of thieves; with Kyle Massey.

Beginning of the Great Revival:  Historical propaganda epic explores the story of the Chinese Revolution and how it lead to the Chinese Communist Party; with Bingbing Fan and John Woo.

Better and Better:  Phony novelist, an ex-gambler, and a failed impresario all return to their village for a spring festival that could lead at a second shot of success; with Jing Tian.

Big Daddy:  A man child who's been dumped by his girlfriend due to not accepting any responsibility attempts to prove her wrong by adopting a five year old boy; with Adam Sandler and Joey Lauren Adams.

Black Widow (1987):  Inquiring federal investigator becomes intrigued when she uncovers an unusual pattern of deaths due to natural causes; with Debra Winger and Theresa Russell.

Community on the Beat:  A policeman helps people fix their lives and contribute to society, including a teen criminal, an opera lover, and an ex-thief; with Hui Wang.

Critical Condition:  A criminal who fakes insanity tries to escape from the psych ward, but problems ensue when he's confused for a doctor; with Richard Pryor and Rachel Ticotin.

Deadfall (2012):  Two siblings on the run following a heist choose to split up, and one's encounter with a prison parolee leads to conflict between two families; with Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde.

Death of a Gentleman:  Two filmmakers and lifelong cricket fans join a devoted player and learn about the corrupt realities of a sport shaped by a powerful few in this documentary.

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry:  A race car driver and a mechanic team up to steal $150,000 from a store.  Complications ensue when they pick up a fiery hitchhiker; with Peter Fonda and Susan George.

Do You Even Know Who I Am?:  A comic who's luckless with women falls in love.  But his intended might balk if his scheme to pretend he's rich backfires; with Ricardo Quevedo.

Extract:  The life of an extract factory owner who is fixing to sell his company is pretty good, until an on-the-job accident threatens his livelihood; with Jason Bateman and Mila Kunis.

Falling Flowers:  A gifted writer deals with being abandoned, poor, and pregnant by embarking on a daring literary career in the face of patriarchy, war, and privation; with Jia Song.

Familia Gang (aka Gang Family):  A politician decides to fake the killing of a wanted criminal which leaves a hitman to attempt the task while dealing with his estranged family; with Elpidia Carrillo.

The Family Man:  A cutthroat investment banker plays what if when he is transported into the life he might have had if he had chosen his college sweetheart over his career; with Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni.

The Fast and the Furious (2001):  Undercover cop infiltrates LA street racing crew suspected of pulling off big-rig hijackings.  Complications ensue when he falls for the leader's sister; with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift:  Street racer has been sent by concerned family members to Tokyo where he picks up on the sport of drift racing.  Stay to the end; with Lucas Black and Bow Wow.

Final Destination 3:  A girl prevents several people from dying in a freak roller coaster accident after a premonition, but death doesn't like being cheated; with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman.

Finding Home:  Searing documentary explores the lives of three Cambodian women who became victims of sex trafficking in their teens as well as their successes and struggles in their lives since.

For the Love of a Man:  Documentary looks at the devoted fans of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth as they explore the line between hero worship and religious fanaticism.

Forever Love:  An office worker drowns her sorrows at a pub following a breakup with her boyfriend.  While there, she spills wine on a stranger; with Guo Xiaoran.

From the Terrace:  Ambitious executive chooses to climb the corporate ladder over family and regrets it when she finds comfort with another man; with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

Funny or Die Presents: Donald Trump's The Art of the Deal: The Movie:  In this parody of Trump's best selling book, take a look at his life as well as his tips for business and personal success; with Johnny Depp and Alfred Molina.

Ghayal Once Again:  Four teens turn to a corruption fighting journalist for help after uncovering evidence into a murder that implicates a powerful, prominent businessman; with Om Puri.

The Hard Stop:  This documentary takes a sober look at how the death of a black man in Tottenham in 2011 led to riots throughout England.

Holding the Man:  Two teen boys living in 1970s Australia fall in love with each other leading to a 15 year relationship; with Ryan Corr and Craig Stott.

In the Shadow of the Moon:  Documentary explores the Apollo space program through interviews with the brave astronauts who lived through the exciting chapter in history.

An Inconvenient Truth:  Former veep Al Gore makes an impassioned argument to protect the environment in this Oscar winning documentary.

Lacuna:  Two strangers wake up hungover and naked in a department store and discover they got a long day ahead of to fix the previous night's mistakes; with Shawn Yue.

Lemon:  Korean TV reporter goes to China for a story about an ancient artifact and falls for its owner, but she dreads telling him the truth; with Leon Jay Williams.

Love Deposit:  The owner of a cafe that's the locale for sweethearts who leave love notes for one another might find love with a jilted woman who shows up at his work; with Yu Xia.

Smile Walked:  A heavy gambler escapes from prison due to a devastating earthquake, but his son's need for medical help brings him back to illegal dealings.

The Tribe:  A deaf teen arrives at a new city to attend a boarding school for the deaf where he learns that he must join the ruling gang in order to survive there; with Hryhoriy Fesenko.

The Verdict:  A washed up, ambulance chasing attorney gets a chance at redemption when his friend sends him a medical malpractice case that appears to be open and shut; with Paul Newman and James Mason.

The Wedding Planner:  A wedding planner is saved from an accident by the man of her dreams.  Too bad, he's her newest client's fiance.  Ouch; with Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey.

What Women Want:  An accident causes an cocky advertising executive to hear what women are thinking and he decides to use that against his female boss; with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt.

Where the Road Runs Out:  An inheritance brings a man home to Equatorial Guinea where befriends an orphan and gets a life changing visit from an old friend; with Isaach De Bankole.

Who is Undercover:  A tourist staying in a haunted house is spooked by a ghostly appearance in her room nightly until she discovers a connection to her long dead boyfriend; with Jing He.

Winter in Wartime:  A teen in Nazi occupied Holland deals with a full plate of family loyalties, the fine line between safety and courage, and the realities of war; with Martijn Lakemeier.

Xi Bai Po: Wang Er Xiao:  A 13 year old boy who lost his parents to the Second Sino-Japanese War finds vengeance as a key player in the village resistance; with Yang Li.

Young @ Heart:  This touching documentary explores a chorus made up of senior citizens who thrill audiences worldwide with unusual, often poignant covers of rock songs.

Zach and Miri Make a Porno:  In order to make ends meet, Zach and Miri agree to make and star in a porno.  But their unspoken feelings for each other could ruin things; with Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks.

August 2:

Hyena Road:  A Canadian sniper, a military officer, and a legendary Afghani freedom fighter face the Taliban and walk a fine line between heroism and futility; with Paul Gross and Clark Johnson.

Songs My Brothers Taught Me:  A high schooler's plan to leave his reservation change after his father's death casts a shadow over his younger sister's future; with Allen Reddy.

August 3:

Crossing Point (2016):  In order to save his kidnapped girlfriend from a Mexican drug lord, Michael will have to smuggle a backpack full of cocaine into the United States; with Shawn Lock and Jacob Vargas.

August 4:

Sweet Home:  A couple interloping in a decrepit apartment building for a romantic interlude find themselves targets of masked killers with a sinister mission.  Romance has gone downhill; with Bruno Sevilla.

August 5:

David Cross:  Making America Great Again:  In his latest stand up special, Cross (Mr. Show) takes on Donald Trump, religious taboos and American swagger in Austin, Texas.

Lavell Crawford: Can a Brother Get Some Love?:  From his hometown of Saint Louis, the former Last Comic Standing contestant shoots for some love and laughs with his stand up routine.

The Little Prince:  Overscheduled girl meets an eccentric aviator with tales to tell about an unusual boy who lives on an asteroid; with voices of Jeff Bridges and Rachel McAdams.

Mothers Day (aka Mothers and Daughters):  A pregnant photographer captures several interwoven tales of the ups and downs of mother daughter relationships; with Susan Sarandon and Christina Ricci.

Pablo Escobar, Angel or Demonio? (aka Pablo Escobar: Angel or Demon?):  Documentary takes a look at eyewitness accounts that cover the rise and fall of the Colombian drug lord.

Parched:  In rural India, four women of differing backgrounds attempt to live their lives while dealing with constant stress, fear, and misogyny according to this documentary.

Personal Gold: An Underdog Story:  In the wake of the Lance Armstrong doping scandal, a scrappy team of American women cyclists attempts to win a medal during the 2012 London Olympics in this documentary.

Punk's Dead: SLC Punk 2:  A mopey straitlaced goth kid who lost his father to a drug overdose goes on a crazy bender during a road trip to a punk show; with Ben Schnetzer and Hannah Marks.

The Secret of Moonacre:  A little girl ends up in a fantastic tale in a beloved storybook and finds herself trapped in a feud between her family and a rival clan; with Tim Curry and Juliet Stevenson.

August 6:

The Confirmation:  A divorced handyman with a drinking problem bonds with his son while searching for his stolen toolbox during an eventful weekend; with Clive Owen and Patton Oswalt.

August 9:

Baskin:  Tough Turkish lawmen find themselves over their heads when a call they answer turns out to be a gory Black Mass which appears to be occurring in hell.

August 10:

Heavy:  An overweight man concentrates on his job making pizzas at his mother's small restaurant until a lovely new waitress breezes into the place; with Pruitt Taylor Vince and Liv Tyler.

St. Vincent:  A lonely 10 year old boy whose mom is preoccupied by divorce and making a living befriends his cantankerous veteran neighbor; with Bill Murray and Naomi Watts.

August 11:

Jim Gaffigan: King Baby:  Filmed from Austin, Texas during his 2008 comedy tour, Gaffigan riffs on bacon, bowling, and other weighty topics.

Jim Gaffigan: Obsessed:  Gaffigan tackles eating, exercise, weddings, and his children in this live stand up special from 2014.

My Golden Days:  A middle aged anthropologist examines his difficult childhood, a meaningful student trip to the USSR, his friends, and his one true love in this film.

August 13:

13 Cameras:  Young parents to be move into a suburban home unaware that someone is watching them through hidden cameras; with PJ McCabe and Brianne Moncrief.

Flutter (2011):  Thriller about a fearless gambler who tests the limits of how far he will go when an alluring bookie offers big payoffs for large risks; with Joe Anderson.

Flutter (2014):  Drama about a young mother determined to take care of her son and his pet after being abandoned by her husband; with Lindsay Pulsipher and Jesse Plemons.

Help, I've Shrunk the Family (aka Wiplala):  Lonely boy befriends a magical 4 inch tall man living in a kitchen cabinet who accidentally shrinks the whole family to his size; with Geza Weisz.

Saala Khadoos:  Tough ex-boxer with a grudge against boxing authorities takes a scrappy young female boxer under his wing in the hopes of making her champion; with R. Madhavan.

August 14:

No Country for Old Men:  Llewelyn spots $2 million in drug money while hunting and takes off with it, but a psychotic hit man also wants the cash; with Javier Bardem and Tommy Lee Jones.

August 15:

Airlift:  During the 1990 Gulf War, a wealthy Indian businessman residing in Kuwait defies the Iraqis and helps to evacuate over 170,000 Indians stuck in the war zone; with Akshay Kumar.

Barbershop Punk:  Documentary explores the legal fight of a barbershop singer against Comcast over sharing his music online; featuring Janeane Garofalo and Henry Rollins.

Being AP:  Documentary examines the final season of veteran jump jockey Tony "AP" McCoy as he reflects on the highs of winning and the costs of his sport.

God's Club:  Public school teacher decides to revive a Bible club started by his late wife and soon faces both opposition and support.  Can we blame Celebrity Mole; with Stephen Baldwin and Corbin Bernsen.

Indie Game: Life After:  In the documentary followup to the Indie Game movie, commentary, epilogues, extras, and short films flesh out the development of indie games such as Fez, Braid, and Super Meat Boy.

John and Jane:  Quasi-documentary explores six exhausted workers at a Mumbai call center servicing American customers

Laal Rang:  A man who is eager for cash joins a blood theft operation.  But his greed and the cops closing in causes his partner to start to short circuit; with Randeep Hooda. Appears to have left on August 20

Louis CK: Live at the Comedy Store:  From the legendary comic venue, Louis tackles a bat in the kitchen, seeing rats have sex, Boston accents, and dead pets in his stand up routine.

Planet FIFA:  Documentary explores how the world soccer organization known as FIFA became bloated and corrupt even as it continues to make money.

Take Me to the River (2014):  This musical documentary reveals the boundary shattering Memphis music scene as R&B and soul legends record an album with contemporary hip hop artists; with Terrence Howard.

We're Not Broke:  Documentary covers concerned citizens protesting against corporations who sheltered billions of dollars from the federal government.

August 16:

11 Minutes:  In Warsaw, the lives of an ex-con hot dog vendor, a group of nuns, an aspiring actress and others converge for 11 fateful minutes; with Richard Dormer.

Let's Go to Prison:  An inmate gets his opportunity for revenge by mentoring the wrongfully convicted son of the judge who sentenced him in prison; with Will Arnett and Dax Shepard.

Our Last Tango:  Interviews and dance sequences punctuate this documentary on the legacy and rocky romance between tango dancers Maria Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copes.

Sky:  A woman on a desert vacation leaves her abusive husband and makes her way to Vegas where she falls for a rugged loner and starts a new life; with Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus.

Sweet Bean:  Master of a dorayaki pastry store hires an older talented woman whose talents attract customers from all over but who is hiding a troubling secret; with Kirin Kiki.

The Way Back:  Band of soldiers who have escaped from a World War 2 labor camp plan a journey to travel through Siberia, the Gobi Desert, and the Himalayas to return home; with Ed Harris and Jim Sturgess.

The Curse of Sleeping Beauty:  A young man with recurring nightmares of a beautiful sleeping girl he must awaken with a kiss inherits a decaying mansion from a mysterious uncle; with Ethan Peck.

The Last Heist:  A bank robbery goes awry when professional robbers get trapped in the building with a bloodthirsty maniac with an eye fetish; with Henry Rollins and Torrance Coombs.

August 19:

I'll Sleep When I'm Dead:  Documentary sheds light on the driving force behind the success of superstar DJ Steve Aoki: his daredevil father Steve, who founded Benihana.

Trinta:  Film covers the rise of Joaosinho Trinta to the Carnival director for Rio's finest samba school where his outlandish, trailblazing style shines through; with Matheus Nachtergaele.
